Jain pav(no Yeast no oven)

Yeast is not eaten in jainism. Anything made from yeast such as bread, biscuits, pav, etc. is prohibited in Jainism.The reason for this is believed in Jainism that many small creatures are born due to the formation of yeast. So today, we will prepare this jain pav without making yeast.

Ingredients-

3 cup of all purpose flour ( maida).

1 spoon baking powder.

1/2 spoon baking soda.

2 tbsp of oil.

2 pinch of salt.

1 spoon sugar.

3 tbsp thick curd.

luckwarm water for kneaded.

oil for greasing.

method

step 1- Add oil, baking soda, baking powder, sugar and salt to the flour and mix well.

step 2- Add curd and mix well. Now knead a soft and slightly loose dough with lukewarm water.

step 3- Apply some oil on the dough and cover it with a cloth and keep it for 2 hours.

Step 4 - Now put the salt in a large kadahi and cover the lid , preheat the kadahi on high flame for 5 minutes.

Step 5- Grease a mold with ghee.

step 6- Knead the dough again and make it smooth. Now make big lobe from the dough and keep it in the mold. Now grease a little ghee on each lobe ( pav/loi).

step 7- Place the mold in a preheat kadahi and bake for 20 to 25 minutes on low heat.

step 8- Turn off the gas, take out the mold from the kadahi and after cooling, demould the pav.

step 9- Now divide the loaf into two parts with a knife. Put a little butter on the hot griddle and bake the loaf from both the sides.

Serve the pav with hot bhaji.Very good pav are prepared.
