Traditional gulab jamun
India is a country of diversities. Various types of sweets are made here, in which Jalebi, Imarti and Gulab Jamun are specially eaten. Dough is made from mawa to prepare Gulab Jamun. It is then dipped in sugar syrup after frying in ghee.
You will be surprised to know that Gulab Jamun has been declared as the national sweet of Pakistan, if we talk about India, Jalebi is the first number in India.
Gulab Jamuns are prepared in many ways. But those traditional gulab jamuns are prepared by making only mawa or paneer-mawa or maida-mawa. This way, many types of Gulab Jamuns like semolina Gulab Jamun, Rice Gulab Jamun, mava gulab jamun etc. are in vogue these days.

Gulab jamun recipe and ingredients.
prep time 35 minutes.
cook time 25 minutes.
type of recipe : sweet.
Ingredients-
For dough-
1 bowl of mava.
1/2 bowl of cottage cheese( paneer).
2 tbsp of all purpose flour ( maida).
For sugar syrup-
200 gm sugar.
1 big bowl of water.
A pinch of cardamom powder.
ghee for frying.
Method-
step 1- Rub mawa and paneer by rubbing with palms for 20 to 25 minutes.
step 2- When smooth dough is ready, add 2 tablespoons all purpose flour(maida) and knead it again and make small balls from it.
step 3- To make syrup, add water to the sugar and bring it to a boil on high flame. Now reduce the gas and allow the syrup to cook for 5 to 10 minutes. Now turn off the gas, sugar syrup is ready.
step 4- Keep a kadahi on low heat and add desi ghee to it.
step 5- Now fry the small balls till they becomes pink.
step 6- Take out the fried gulab jamun in a plate and dip the fried gulab jamun in lukewarm syrup for 7 to 8 hours.
step 7- After 7 to 8 hours Gulab Jamuns are ready. Now take them out of the syrup and serve in a plate.
NOTE- It can be preserved for several days when kept in the fridge. It tastes even more delicious when eaten the next day after making Gulab Jamun.
