Shrikhand is a sweet dessert made from curd. Traditionally, Shrikhand is made by mixing hang curd, mishri, powdered sugar and cardamom powder. It is believed that Lord Krishna is pleased by offering butter and Shrikhand.
By mixing many types of things in Plain Shrikhand, it becomes different types of Shrikhand - Like Mango Shrikhand, Pineapple Shrikhand, Strawberry Shrikhand, Rose Shrikhand, Dry-fruits Shrikhand, Chocolate Shrikhand, Vanilla Shrikhand, Mix Fruits Shrikhand etc.
Given below are the recipes of three types of Shrikhand.
For three types of Shrikhand
Ingredients-
1 kg curd(hang) for 3 types of Shrikhand
powdered sugar(as per your taste)
2 tbsp of milk.
for mango shrikhand-
1/2 bowl of hang curd.
A pinch of cardamom powder.
1/2 cup pulp of boiled mango.
1 tbsp pieces of boiled mango (optional).
for pineapple shrikhand-
1/2 bowl of hang curd.
1/2 cup of tinned pineapple or pulp of boiled pineapple.
for plain shrikhand-
1/2 bowl of hang curd.
1 tsp vanilla essence.
A pinch of cardamom powdered
1 tbsp of chopped mixing nuts.
2 tbsp of milk.
A pinch of orange colour.
method-
Tie the thick curd in a cloth and hang it for 7 to 8 hours. Now take it out in a big vessel, add powdered sugar to it and whisk with a whisker for 10 to 15 minutes until smooth. Now divide it into three parts.
for mango shrikhand- Take one part of hung curd. Mix boiled and pulpy mango in one part. Mix well, Mango Shrikhand is ready.
for pineapple shrikhand- take 1 part of hang curd. Mix boiled and pulpy pineapple or tinned pineapple pieces. Mix well, pineapple shrikhand is ready.
for plain shrikhand- Add vanilla essence, dry fruits, milk, cardamom powder to one part of hung curd and mix it well. Plain Shrikhand is ready.
Notes- Keep the shrikhand in the fridge to cool down and serve chilled shrikhand.
